Standard FTP is inherently insecure, your user/password and the contents of the transfer are easily read by inexperienced hackers. Exposing credentials may allow someone additional access to your digital assets (file server, mail server, etc).
FTPS is a secure version of FTP.
Most FTP programs support FTPS, the user experience is identical, all data is encrypted between client & server.
Web File Manager (WFM) is a modern replacement for FTP.
A web file manager is a simple and untuitive web page which allows users to upload and download files. It requires little or no training and eliminates the difficulty sometimes experienced with FTP programs. WFM simplifies the transfer of large files, with almost no learning curve or hassles for you clients/vendors.
Both FTPS and WFM systems provide email notification of a transfer and detailed statistics. Please click the WFM link to view screen shots.
